Where Are People Buying?
This interactive map shows where homebuying activity is concentrating across the country. It is one of the few views that lets you look at the whole national picture at once instead of one market at a time.
If you own a California home and plan to buy elsewhere, this matters on both sides of the trade. Demand where you live shapes how quickly your house sells and what a buyer will pay for it. Demand where you are going shapes what you compete against: how many offers a listing draws, how much room there is to negotiate, and whether you will be choosing between houses or racing other buyers for one.
Read it as a map of pressure, not a prediction. Areas drawing heavy activity tend to be harder to buy into and easier to sell into. Quieter areas usually mean more inventory and more negotiating leverage for a buyer, and a longer wait for a seller. Compare a few destinations you are already considering rather than looking for a single best place, and check it again before you write an offer, since the underlying view is updated over time.

A map tells you where activity is. It does not tell you what your equity buys, what you will pay in property tax, or what a specific market is like to live in. That is what the state pages are for.
